Welcome!

Johnny Young, CFP®, CPWA®
Senior Financial Advisor
Focus
As a Financial Advisor, I identify and analyze challenges high-net-worth individuals face, and understand how to develop specific strategies to help invest tax efficiently, monetize and protect assets, seek to maximize growth, and transfer wealth.
An often overlooked aspect of retirement planning is the amount of annual income you’ll likely receive from your investments. I can help you choose retirement income strategies that may help you maintain flexibility and control of the principal, seek growth of principal and increased income, and pursue a plan that can allow you enough income to last the rest of your life.
Background
I began my career as a Financial Advisor with Capital One Financial Advisors before joining Wells Fargo Advisors in 2010.
I served four years of active duty service in the United States Air Force, deploying on two separate occasions to the Middle East in support of Operation Southern Watch. During my time in the service, I distinguished myself by earning medals for conduct and achievement. I returned to receive my Bachelor degree in Computer Information Systems from Louisiana Tech University.
Upon completion of my degree, I owned and operated a successful family business prior to my career as a financial advisor.
Credentials
With an emphasis on continuing education, in 2013 I earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM, or CFP®, practitioner designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standard, Inc. followed by the designation of CERTIFIED PRIVATE WEALTH ADVISOR®, or CPWA®, practitioner in 2019 from the Investments and wealth institute in conjunction with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. These designations identify individuals who meet rigorous experience and ethical requirements and have successfully completed financial planning coursework, covering the following areas: the financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement and employee benefits, and estate planning.
Away from the office
I spend my free time with my wife, Brandi, our daughter, Caroline, and two sons, Davis and Will. We like to stay active both physically and mentally, whether it’s playing basketball or golfing at the local park or taking regular trips to the New Braunfels Public Library. I especially enjoy coaching the children’s sports, attending my local church, exercising, and reading.
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board) owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, CFP® (with plaque design), and CFP® (with flame design) in the U.S., which it authorizes use of by individuals who successfully complete CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.

Who is Stratos Wealth Advisors & Why We Chose Them
Stratos Wealth Advisors is a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA). Their primary role is providing third-party compliance oversight, technology integration, infrastructure, and operational and practice management support. In selecting an RIA partner, our top two criteria (among nearly 70 variables) were: 1. Would we be proud to work there? 2. Do they have the right culture?
Stratos started in 2008 with a belief that clients always come first. While every firm can say that, there are key differences that set them apart in our opinion. In terms of structure, they have an open architecture that allowed us to evaluate different custodians and select the best fit for us. Throughout the process, they were strong advocates on our behalf. All too often, the RIA and custodian are inseparable, and the only way to upgrade one is to replace both.
Stratos specializes in serving independent practices like ours and, collectively, independent business owners can sometimes be a tough bunch to please. We are proud to serve a diverse set of clients, goals, and needs, but with that comes a certain level of complexity that places heavy demands on our support partners. Their culture is aligned such that they treat our practice as a valuable client to them, the same way you are a valuable client to us. With this alignment, your success means our success, and ours means Stratos remains successful.
Confirming our assessment, the marketplace has validated Stratos’ value proposition. From its 2008 founding in Beachwood, OH, Stratos Wealth Holdings has grown to include several entities which incorporate Stratos Wealth Partners ($16.3B) and Stratos Wealth Advisors ($1.8B). Stratos also supports nearly 300 experienced independent financial advisors and financial planning practitioners, serving 15,000 clients, working across 87 offices in 24 states. Their success affords them the size and scale to provide both a breadth and depth of support unmatched by smaller firms.
Stratos Wealth Advisors is part of the Stratos Wealth Network, a family of companies focused on supporting the growth and success of advisory practices and their clients, across business models and affiliation structures. Stratos companies include Stratos Wealth Partners*, Stratos Wealth Advisors, Stratos Wealth Management and Stratos Wealth Enterprises.
*Stratos Wealth Partners, Ltd., was named to Barron's 2020 Top 100 Leading independent advisory firms.* Stratos was ranked #16 by Assets under Management (AUM), #4 by clients, #2 by advisors, #4 by offices, and #4 by states). Rankings based on qualitative and quantitative components, including assets managed, size and experience of teams, and the regulatory records of advisors and firms.
