Rich Nilsen is the first in his family born in the United States, and the first to go to college here. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Syracuse University, where he participated on two sports teams. He later earned a law degree from Georgetown University Law School. Rich is a veteran, and a former United States Navy Officer. While on active duty he was awarded a Navy Achievement Medal, and a National Defense Service Ribbon during Operation Desert Storm. Rich is also a lawyer,* with specialized experience in areas such as estate planning, tax planning, etc. Rich combines his legal background, with many years of financial advisory experience, to serve his clients in a distinctive way. Rich has held numerous state and local appointments and elected positions in politics. He has been a senior advisor to a gubernatorial campaign and most recently served as state treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee for the Virginia Republican Party.
